Hi,

I recently bought a 7VT-600P-RZ m/b, with an Athlon XP2800+. As
directed by the manual, I removed the JP1 jumper, to set the FSB to
auto. Everything seemed to work OK, except that the audio was very
glitchy and noisy, and certain graphics within WinXP were glitchy.
Particularly, playback of MPEG files had a really weird vertical snow
effect. One of the other grahpics glitches was that the wallpaper
preview window in Display Properties had all the colours messed up.

My immediate thought was that this was a drivers problem. I made sure
that all the drivers were up to date, and put the latest windows
updates on. When this didn't work, I swapped out the power supply,
memory, graphics card and tried a PCI soundcard (instead of onboard
sound). I also put the latest motherboard BIOS on.

In desperation, I borrowed a friend's XP2000+ to try in the
motherboard, and the problem went away completely. Unfortunately I
don't have access to another motherboard that will take the 2800+.

So, what's most likely to be the problem? Is it the processor or the
motherboard? Any ideas?

Alastair

Hi,
I have some configuration (7vt-600p-rz & Sempron 2800+), but I recently
sell motherboard 7vt-600p-rz. I bought new MB Epox 8RDA3I, but it doesn't
work with the Sempron 2800+. I try to set this CPU on other MB, but it
doesn't work with anything. Probably, CPU design only for 7vt-600p-rz :(
