Hello,

I recently bought a external enclosure for a HDD (3.5 inch). The drive
is a brand new Western Digital SE Caviar 80 GB/7200RPM/8 MB cache drive. I
am using the IEEE 1394 connection on the enclosure, because its much faster
than the USB 2.0 connection, for both direct video capture and rendering of
captured video.

Everything usually works ok, but more increasingly the external HDD
"disappears" in the middle of use! This causes the machine to crash. Are
there drivers that I need to install? (I'm using an XP O/S) Does anyone
have any idea what's going on?

Do the power management options apply to "both" all drives?
