I am removing an Aopen burner from my system and replacing it with an
I/O magic burner. The Aopen uses only drivers from XP, but does have
firmware. I plan to remove the drive using device manager, then turn
off the computer, physically remove the drive, install the new burner
and restart the computer.

Am I missing any steps?

Is the firmware actually installed in the computer somewhere and need
to be removed?

Do I need to clean out anything from XP, or does removing it in Device
Manager take care of it all?

I want every possible trace of the Aopen burner removed from the
system. I have had bad experience with XP before following
instructions and removing software the "correct" way and later finding
out that the system still had bits and pieces of stuff remaining.

Thanks.

Thanks! Seems to have worked completely this way.
