Ok so I had a terrible motherboard that was having issues with the bios and stability. I have since bought a new one to replace it, My old motherboard is currently licensed to my copy of windows. Does this mean I have to phone the ''nice people at microsoft'' and hope they are in a good mood?

please help, I now have no money after spending it all on a msi 870a fuzion and really don't want to find another $150 NZD for another windows license.

ps my old motherboard was a m2n68-am plus.

Solution
There is No problem with calling Microsoft to activate OS because of defective Motherboard.
If you end up having to call tell them exactly what you posted.

As an OEM version of Windows is tied to the motherboard, that is the only thing you can not change in the configuration.
If you have to replace it due to a defect, you need to get the same make/model or the same manufacturer's replacement/equivalent.
