CPU temperature to high on GA-7N400 Pro2

7N400 Pro2 and using Athlon XP 2800+ together with cpu fan at 4000rpm and
still my idle CPU temperature is around 64 degrees C . When I start a 3d
Game temperature rise to 76 C.

I was expecting much lower temperatures, below 60s so any suggestions?

Im using a copper fan Vulcano 11 / Thermaltake with adjustable fan speed

System temp is stable around 46 C

Thermal paste is fine and theres a good connection with the CPU .

Hi have the same board and was experiencing similar problems, although not
quite as bad. I reduced my temp by changing my thermal paste..

System temp CPU temp
35 59
40 64

New thermal Paste (Artic Silver)

System temp CPU temp
35 52
40 57

My heatsink is just a standard one , so it is possible to reduce it even
more.
Please note that the readings for this board are quite high as gigabyte
apparently use a different technique to obtain CPU Temp.

System Temp 46° C, that is too high
Needs some air flow through the box.
Rear exhaust fan??

A typical unit( this one):
Room ambient 21° (indoor/outdoor thermometer)
Inside the case 27°
System 33° (EZ Tune)
CPU 62°

This on a 3000XP over clocked to 2363mHz.

As you can tell I have been concerned with CPU.
Did the Vulcano 11 fit without modification.

ok then I think I need another fan to create more air flow inside my small
box.
And I will also try with another type of thermal paste!

I have not tried to overclock it yet .

First ensure that the heatsink is properly attached. A common mistake
for athlon cpu is to put the heatsink in reverse position and thus an
air gap is created between the cpu die and the heatsink.

Your case probably hasnt good air flow. Put additional case fans if
your case has fan slots, or you will need to do some patents .

Temperature for your processor should be (room temperature+20C) at
idle and (room temperature +30(or 35)) at full cpu load.

ok good news, when I took the cover off the box the temperature dropped! .

Easytune4 show this temperature:
System: 37 C
CPU : 60 C

When I check the BIOS its the same temperature readings.

The adjustable cpu fan is making alot of noise with 4000rpm , when I reduce
the fan speed to 3000rpm the cpu temp only change 1 degree up to 61 C
And the fastest speed (when its making alot of noise!) 5000rpm CPU is down
to 58 C

Hope to solve this problem with another case fan , I have checked the
heatsink and its attached properly so the only problem there is perhaps the
thermal paste.....?

Well even the best thermal paste wont help if there isnt good air flow
inside your case. Thermal paste is a very good passive heat-transfer
medium between parts that have different temperatures i.e your cpu and
your heatsink. If there isnt good airflow inside your case the
heatsink cannot be cooled properly because the fan above it sends
quite hot air. As a result the temperature of heatsink is getting
close to that of your cpu, thus the passive heat transfer(which works
from the hottest to the coolest) cannot work.

Put at least one fan in the front and two fans in the rear. Arrange
the cables so as to reduce air blocking/curling phenomena. The new
round ATA cables help alot but are abit more expensive.
