The regular season is about over in baseball and the MVP candidates are pretty clear cut at this point. Here's who I think are the contenders in no particular order. Stats are through the 5th.

AL:
Jose Bautista: .309 AVG/40 HR/92 RBI/1.084 OPS
Curtis Granderson: .271 AVG/38 HR/107 RBI/.951 OPS
Adrian Gonzalez: .340 AVG/23 HR/103 RBI/.952 OPS
Miguel Cabrera: .329 AVG/26 HR/92 RBI/.993 OPS
David Ortiz: .314 AVG/28 HR/89 RBI/.989 OPS

NL:
Ryan Braun: .335 AVG/26 HR/94 RBI/.994 OPS
Prince Fielder: .295 AVG/31 HR/107 RBI/.955 OPS
Matt Kemp: .320 AVG/32 HR/105 RBI/.971OPS
Albert Pujols: .295 AVG/34 HR/85 RBI/.921 OPS

So, who are you guys thinking will take home the prize this season?

In my opinion, usually the writers go with someone who is on a team that makes the playoffs, unless they have a prolific season. In the NL that means you can count out Pujols (who by his career numbers is having an "off" season). Unfortunately for Kemp, he's on a losing team, so he probably won't get it. That leaves Fielder and Braun. Braun has had the most consistent season of the two, so I'd probably bet on him getting it. In the AL it's a bit tougher, especially seeing that Bautista is having the season of his life. But he's on a team that will not make the playoffs, which will probably kill him in 1st place votes. Ortiz is having a good year, but you can argue that Gonzalez is the force behind the Red Sox this year. Cabrera is having another great season and if he had a few more homers, he'd probably be the front runner. That leaves Granderson, who is having a career year. At this point I have no idea.

Bautista is a true example of steroid enhancement!

With the drug testing program MLB has these days, it'd shock me to learn that he's on roids or any other PED. For his and the game's sake, I hope he isn't.

The numbers do look suspicious, especially if you view them through the "Steroid Era" filter. However, it has been widely reported that he made some swing changes prior to the 2010 season, which obviously helped him out. I don't know, I do get your point that roids may play a role in his increased numbers, but at the same time I hope that he is clean. The game needs it.

Where's Verlander on your candidate list?? I'd say he's got a better chance than Cabrera.

Oritiz doesn't have a chance. He's probably the 3rd best on his team (you're also missing Ellsbury).
