the bios sees the hard drive and seatools, and western digital tools sees hard drive just fine even passes the wd test ect.

the drive is pretty new from rma it is a 36gb raptor 10,000rpm drive and no reason to suspect it failing.

am wondering why windows wont see the hard drive what can i do to possably fix this

thanks

Do this:

- Start --> right-click "Computer" and select "Manage"
- Click "Disk Management" in the left pane.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the middle pane

Do you see your drive in the middle of the bottom pane? If so, and if it doesn't show up as a drive letter in Explorer, it means you need to partition and format the drive. Right-click on the left end of the drive in the middle pane to create a volume (partition) and then format it. Once it's formatted then Windows will automatically assign a drive letter and you'll be able to use it.
