copying a MPG file from PC to PocketPC requires conversion. It use to
convert the files which allows me to play MPG files on the mediaplayer
but it does no longer do it beacuse i installed a DIVX player on my
PocketPC and it stopped converting the MPG files when copying from pc to
pocketpc..

does anyone know how to restore that conversion step? other files are
converting as normal, just mpgs are not??

Download a freeware PocketTV player, to play MPEG2 movies without
conversion.

When you download the Pockettv program, don't forget to go back and get the
free serial number. Once you've installed Pockettv on the PPC, it will come
up and ask you to register, providing a number to be used by their web site.
Enter that long number and they will give you the registry number.

Good program! I can now take movies with my Sony digital camera and play
them on the Ipaq.

Take care,
Mike R.

PocketTV plays MPEG1 (.mpg), not MPEG2.

MPEG2 is only used for DVD and digital TV and HDTV, and for interlaced
video. MPEG2 files are enormous and not suitable for a mobile device.

For all mobile devices (progressive screen), MPEG1 is a much better format.

That why PocketTV plays MPEG1 (extension .mpg or .mpeg).

There are other alternative, like MPEG4, DivX, H.264, too.
