the direction of a manual for the controller or give me some advice. Thanks

Make sure your SCSI is turned on in the BIOS. There should be no need to do
anything in the SCSI BIOS portion but if you must then during boot press
CTRL/A and make your desired changes. On the drive portion, set the ID to
the appropriate number and see to it that there is a termination on the
cable.

Well i cant select create raid fron the menu, the only option i can select
is spare. Ive tried to change the scsi id on the drives because they are
both set at 15 but it doesnt work. Any ideas??

I received a notice that my e-mail to you was unsuccessful. Yes, I removed
the obvious.

The manuals you need to look at are:

1. Look on your motherboard CD (Other/SCSI/Raid_ap/hostraid_ug.pdf).

I believe all the questions you may have can be answered in these two
manuals. But the information is difficult to understand.

By the way, you change the SCSI ID of the drives by changing the jumpers on
the hard drive itself. To setup two SCSI drives in a Raid array, they must
have different SCSI IDs and must be on the same SCSI Channel. The Adaptec
AIC-7902W Chipset on your motherboard is dual channel. That means both of
the hard drives will be operating on the same channel and using different
jumper configurations.

It is easiest to setup SCSIRaid with a new installation of the OS. On page
43 of 72 (page 5-3) of the HostRaid User's Guide is an explanation of how to
install SCSIRaid on an existing system.

You can not have the same ID on both drives. It's very unusual to use ID15
unless you have whole bunch of other SCSI equipment using the other ID's.
The reason the RAID setting can not be set is because only one drive is seen
or more probably none should have been seen since there is a conflict with
ID15.
Depending on the manufacturer of the drive the place to set the ID could be
in different places but almost on all of them there are at least 4 sets of
pins or more. Usually with no jumpers on the pins the drive ID will be set
to 0. The next drive should have one jumper on the appropriate set to make
it ID 1.
There are also other pin sets that are used for termination and other
various things. Get the settings from the manufacturer's web site to tell
you exactly how they should be set. The may even be diagram on the drive
it's self.

Got it sorted now, set the jumpers on the disks and moved both disks on to
the same channel and it was straight forward from there. I didn't realise
the disks had to be on the same channel. Thanks for the help.

Oh spoke to soon, im trying to do a fresh install of win xp and i cant load
the scsi raid driver i just get the error cant locate textsetup.oem. Any
ideas, is it the wrong driver?? There is a textsetup.oem file on the disc.
