Canon i950 print head

My one year old i950 has just begun to refuse to print yellow despite
changing ink tanks and going through the cleaning routines in the manual. It
has had low, infrequent usage (say perhaps once a fortnight).

Does repeated head cleaning (and ink wastage) help?

Can the head be removed and 'cleaned'?

If the answer to the above is no, can the price of £68.00 sterling +
handling +VAT be bettered anywhere?

Thanks to anyone that may be able to help.

Bruce.

I just had an experience with "wonky" printing with my Canon i850 that was
cleared up by this procedure given me by Canon on their service line

1) Remove all cartridges
2) Remove the printhead
3) Using a Qtip and rubbing alcohol clean the printhead bottom using liberal
amounts of the alcohol and Qtips
4) Clean the ink nozzle area where the ink tanks are installed using the
same method as above
5) Reinstall the printhead and cartridges
6) Run 2-3 print cleaning cycles
7) Run a nozzle check.
8) If the above fails, call Canon for a new printhead

I hope that this is of some benefit to you.

Has a Canon cleaning kit that allows you to flush the heads with cleaning
solution. It works every time, but removing the head and soaking it in warm
solution also does it.

Paper is often partly to blame for clogs, suggest you look at using better
paper.

Take the printhead to your nearest Cartridge World Shop, they should be able
to clean and test it for you.
