I am running XP SP2, since installing the latest security patches my LG DVD
writer, installed in an external case as a USB 2 device, will not write DVD
video format. It will handle anything else - data files including a test
4.4gig AVI file but won't burn the DVD format (AUDIO_TS VIDEO_TS) no matter
how small etc. What happens is Nero bombs out after about 1% - more
toasters! I have tried it on my 2nd computer same general specs and
operating system but with a latter version of Nero with the same problem. I
have been told by a friend that the problem may be the chipset in the
external USB 2 case and I should replace it with a case with the Oxford
chipset? Any thoughts. I have done all the usual virus and malware checks
of course. I even went back to a restore point 1 month ago but no change.

......It could also be SP2, but then, who would admit it.

No it has been working under SP2 without problems. It is only since the
latest 4 security patches from Microsoft that I can put a time on it.
