We build and repair systems using only gigabyte Mb's and Intel chipsets. We
have recently had a spate of motherboards returns (37 and counting) with
GA-8I848P-G and 8I845G-VM-RZ boards. All boards have blown the Northbridge.
Their is no hardware common to all apart from the motherboards and Windows
XP. All users have reported the systems blown after using a USB device.
(variety of camera, phones ,MP3 players again no common link).
Gigabyte say we are the only place reporting such a fault but I find it hard
to believe that in the last 6 months we are the only shop that has had
faulty boards.
Has anyone else come across this problem and if so what was Gigabytes
response?

Don't know if this qualifies but I had a GA 7N400 pro2 rev2 that I just
RMA'd. Got the new one today. I plugged my digital camera into the USB slot
and the computer froze. Upon restarting there was no boot & no video. Tried
everything I could, clearing BIOS etc. Nothing. Now after reading your post
I'll be afraid to use the camera??
