Yes. The amount and file type varies by phone depending on memory amount. My
particular phone has 2MB memory to store files in. That doesn't sound like
much, but it is more than enough to store a few pictures in until you can
transfer them to PC. Due to the low quality, the file size of the pictures
is very small. I have about 17 pictures in mine right now and plenty of
space left. Most weren't taken with the phone though. They were pictures I
transfered to the phone for use as picture caller-id, backgrounds, etc.

If recipient is also on Cingular, you use an "MMS" message. They are at 25
cents each or included with some packages. Otherwise you could also email
them if your phone supports it for either 1 cent per KB or subscribe to a
plan that includes some (or even unlimited) data amounts. I'm not sure what
you mean by "what does the recipient do with them?"

Ultimately, of course, that's up to you. With increased privacy concerns
many work places and security are banning them. Even with the newer camera
phones, the quality still puts them at a "good for emergency" or "gotta have
a pic of that" level in my opinion. A cheapo stand alone digital camera
still takes better pics than camera phones.

That's pretty much my view of it. I bought my T616 because of other features
(bluetooth and color screen being two of the biggest). It just happens to
have a camera in it. <wink> I view it basically as a novelty. But like you
said, it will be nice to have if by chance I ever need it.
