I need some details about BIOS flashing on K8NF-9.
I have already flashed some devices, but now I have problem with flashing
this motherboard bios.

I received bios F3j from gigabyte and want to test it .
Problem is that this F3j seems to be me in different format:
- When I save my oryginal F2 BIOS (using QFLASH or @BIOS or FLASH885) -
Saved BIOS has in file header: "IMD$...Award Software International, Inc.
...F2..12/17/2004"
- There is NO such header in F3j that I received from Gigabyte.
- There is NO such string in file header of F2-BIOS from Gigabyte website (I
expected F2 to be identical to BIOS I actually have)

Thera are more differences, so I suppouse different formats. Although file
sizes are identical.
I view bios file in "text preview" in some DOS-tool, no "dissassembling".

My question is what tool to use to flash BIOS f3j ?
What about this differences in file formats ?
I afraid to use tool (for example @BIOS) that saves bios in different format
then bios to be loaded.

Please help, as I wait 4-th day to answer from Gigabyte.

Regards,
Marek

My K8NF-9 is running just fine on the F3j BIOS, it's much better on the SATA
detection and the new 6.53 Nvidia drivers now work, as does the Ntune
program.

Best way to flash is using the BIOS q-flash utility, go into BIOS and press
F8 - having put the F3j file onto a blank floppy disk first. Follow the
instructions and don't forget to load the default BIOS settings after.

I have bought the K8NF-9 a week ago and still have the F2-BIOS. On the
www-page
http://global.giga-byte.com/Mother [...] K8NF-9.htm
there is only the version, too. Where have you gotten the F3-version?

I have upgreaded BIOS using Qflash as You recommended.
I jumped to F3k. After installation nVidia drivers (not Gigabyte) SpeedFun
and Everst started to run with my SATA HDD.
Thanks for support.

PS.
With F3k there are no options for memory timmings in BIOS even after
CTRL+F1. Wonder if this is so with F3j ?

Regards,
Marek

Memory timings are still present in F3j don't know why they'd remove them?

Me & netx are helping Gigabyte with their R&D program, the BIOS we have are
beta to cure specific problems we've contacted them with.

When they've finished breaking our machines & the code is stable it will be
released on the site as just F3 BIOS.
