Hello

I have a GA-K8NS Pro mobo running WinXP.

If you can answer any of these questions, it will be appreciated:

1) What is (or how can I find) the complete list of drivers required for
this motherboard?

2) How can I determined exactly what motherboard drivers are installed
(manufacturere and version) and which ones are not?

3) Of these drivers, which ones are not provided for by the WinXP Unified
nForce driver pack (V5.10) available at nVIDIA?

4) Of these drivers, which ones are not provided for/listed at the Gigabyte
site under drivers for GA-K8NS Pro?

5) Why is there a difference between the files listed for GA-K8NS Pro at the
Gigabyte site and those listed when I let Gigabyte Downlaod Centrer scan my
motherboard?

Cheers

OK Thanks for the reply

But aren't you advising me incorrectly here?

> NF4 standalone kit 6.53 should contain all you need.

The NF4 standalone kit is for nForce4 chipsets. My GA-K8NS Pro is a nForce3
250 chipset.

I guess I got "spooked" into thinking that I was missing drivers when the
Gigabyte Download Center scanned my PC and told me I didnt not have the
following drivers installed:

WEB Version
Local Version
nVIDIA CK8S Chipset Driver 99
5.1.2600.0
nVIDIA CK8S IDE Driver 99
5.1.2600.0
Realtek AC97 Driver 5.10.0.5770
5.10.0.5770
Marvell Gigabit LAN Chipset 6.32.0.0
6.32.0.0
GIGARAID IT8212 RAID Driver 1.4.1.6
1.4.1.6
Silicon Image Sil3112 SATA Chipset 99
N/A
nVIDIA USB 2.0 Chipset 5.1.2600.0
N/A

Can anyone verify that the Gigabyte Download Center only tells you if:
1) you dont't have any drivers at all installed
OR
2) you don't have the particualar versions of the drivers that gets listed
by the Gigagbyte Download Center.

Cheers

Check your device manager listing.
If any devices are missing drivers, the relevant section will be expanded,
and the device will have a yellow exclamation mark next to it.
If you do not have any yellow exclamation marks, then all devices 'should'
have a suitable driver loaded.

Hey Bullman,

I just tried the Gigabyte download center and it's telling me that I need to
download drivers that I know for a fact I already have installed. So I guess
it's not very reliable and maybe should be avoided.

Cheers.

Despite it being a rather unique kind of website (actually scans your system
for mobo drivers) I agree with all the advice given above and in this post.

The information the Gigabyte Download Center will tell you is practically
worthless. All it seems to do is tell you if you have used the Downlaod
Center before to installed the drivers recommended by them after it scans
your system.

If you already have installed other drivers (eg. nForce drivers) for the
same devices, it will not tell you anything about them. It will only make
you think that the you may not have any drivers installed at all.

Hope this helps anyone else out.

Cheers
