I am putting together my new rig tommorow and when it all works out (lord willing) I want to know what the settings are in windows or bios for it to sleep and recover properly?

thanks in advance...

my rig is listed below...

Stand By mode is low-power and comes for free, no setup required. If you unplug the machine, you will lose your session.

Hibernate mode involves writing memory out to a special file on the hard drive. The machine can be unplugged and carried to Wisconsin (if you are in Wisconsin, to Texas) and then plugged in and restarted, and you will get the session. You have to enable this because the hiberfile takes up a lot of room on your system disk.

I stole the following from http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-enable-hibernate-option-in-windows-7/

A. Type Power Options in Start menu and hit enter.

B. In the left pane, open the link labeled “Change when the computer sleeps” and then open the link “Change advanced power settings”.

C. Under the Advanced Sleep options, expand the Sleep tree and turn off Hybrid Sleep.

D. Now go back to Start menu to see the new Hibernate entry.

Microsoft prefers the command-line approach: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920730
