Locking for GA-586A Bios Update

Hello,

i have an very old board and i want to put an 1,6GB HD on ist but it
dont function.

Now i have looked for an Bios-update but i dont get an update for that
special type of Mobo.
I've tried with the atv.128 file for a GA-586ATV but the Updater tells
me this is the wrong software for this Mobo. What to do, please help me.

I think you would have to work through all the 'A' models. There are about
twenty!.

However 1.6GB, should work with the original BIOS. There were upgrades to
support 32GB, from the original 8GB, but even when new, 2GB drives were
OK.
If the drive is larger than 32GB, then you would need to add a PCI IDE
card with a BIOS, because the board did not support drives over this size
on the native chipset.
What does the BIOS display when you boot?. If I remeber right, there was a
code across the bottom of the screen, that included the machine ID as part
of the string.

The same procedure. The upüdater tells me its wrong!

What to do??

I think also that it should be like that, but in fact it supports 500MB
but a 1,2 or 1,6GB drive not. I tested ist, thats the reason I#m asking
here.

Yeah, it is. I would write it down if the computer would start again.
This morning it didnt start? Maybe i killed the bios in the end?
