This board is suspiciously cheap - I would pay a bit more and u might get
better quality. I am not in the Intel arena, therefore, can not recommend
anything.

It more likely that it was caused by your power supply not the
motherboard that got died -- it seem that power supply make the
motherboard goes blew up so best get new one and get Enermanx
Noisetaker or Thermaltake Purepower power supply which is the best one
- I used the Enermax Noisetaker 600w power supplyon my K8NXP-9 and it
worked great and much faster -- I dont see any problems with Gigabyte
as I used 5 different motherboard from Socket A -> 754 and now Im 939
-- all are great as it run greatall the years.

I use the GA-7VAXP and have had no problems whatever, mind you I have replaced a faulty capacitor.
My AMD 2000 was about £80, they'er practically peanuts now and so was the Western Didigal HDD, pick em both up far far less than what I've paid a couple of years ago.
