Hi,
I solved my problem... The C-Media codec chip cannot drive headphones
correctly. I connected the output to my amp and speakers and it sounded
much better. When driving headphones (I tried two sets, AOpen and Sony)
the bass is missing and the trebble is boosted. I checked the data
sheet of the chip and it says it can drive 32R headphones. My AOpen's
are 32R. Strange one as this is supposed to a really good audio chip.
Cheers

Hi,
I have a Gigabyte GA-8I915P Duo Pro motherboard and have been using my
Sound Blaster Live card for audio. I recently enabled the on board
Azalia codec in the Bios and installed the microsoft and C-Media driver
to enable the on board sound.
It all works OK except that the sound is really bad. The trebble is
accentuated and there is no bass. I have tried all sorts of things to
fix it but nothing affects the overall sound quality. Any ideas on a
fix as it is unuasable as it is.
