Cannot get Windows XP installation to recognize that there is a brand
new WD740GD Raptor hard drive hooked up to the SATA connector on my
brand new PT880 Neo-LSR. The HD does not show up in the bios, either.
When I run the Western Digital hard drive test program off of a
diskette, it identifies the WD740GD as a WD1200BB, but says there's an
unknown error and that it cannot test the hard drive! I don't know if
there's a problem with the motherboard or the hard drive, or if there
is an incompatibility problem between the two. I've checked all the
connectors and everything appears to be solid. I've built a dozen
computers from scratch and have never had a problem like this. I'm at
a total loss.
