My computer on the desktop is showing that i have a 1.67GHz processor
but I actually have a 2.6GHz Athlon Processor !?

(Its an MSI KT6 Delta - DDR 400 - AGP 8X - SATA - Support 400 FSB)

I have my FSB set to 133 & Ration set to auto as recommended but no
joy...

why oh why ...?

Rob,
You need to set the FSB to 166Mhz because the CPU bus speed is
333Mhz on the latest Athlon XP2600 cpu's.
It still will not actually clock at 2.6GHz (This is AMD describing their
CPUs as being "equivalent to an Intel 2.6Ghz CPU)
It should actually clock at either 2.083Ghz (Thoroughbred) or 1.909Ghz if it
is a Barton type.

First off you probably don't have a 2.6 Hz Athlon, I don't think there
are any. You probably have an Athlon XP 2600+
There are three different types of 2600+ CPUs

Athlon XP 2600+ with 256KB L2 Cache and 266MHz FSB
CPU Speed: 2133MHz (2.133GHz)
CPU Frequency Multiplier: 16.0x
CPU External Frequency (MHz): 133

Athlon XP 2600+ with 256KB L2 Cache and 333MHz FSB
CPU Speed: 2083MHz (2.083GHz)
CPU Frequency Multiplier: 12.5x
CPU External Frequency (MHz): 166

Athlon XP 2600+ with 512KB L2 Cache and 333MHz FSB
CPU Speed: 1917MHz (1.917GHz)
CPU Frequency Multiplier: 11.5x
CPU External Frequency (MHz): 166

So figure out which one you have and set your multipliers and fsb
accordingly. I'd guess you probably have the middle one and your
multiplier is set right at 12.5; 12.5x133 is 1.67 should be 12.5x166
2.08 GHz.
