Hi guys, I've just done a clean install using XP Pro (SP1), on a new system
consisting of a MSI K8T Neo FIS2R mobo, Athlon 64 3200+, and an older
Leadtek Gf4 Ti4400 I already owned, and that worked fine in my last pc.
Whenever I try and run a 3D game, or run DXDiag, (when it's testing the
Direct3D operations - functions fine if I skip that step), the pc will lock
up for 5 secs or so, and then reboot. After rebooting I find the following
error msg:

"Computer restarted after an unexpected shutdown. Microsoft Windows detected
a possible device failure. The driver for the display device was unable to
complete a drawing operation. Please check with the device manufacturer for
a driver update. The display driver for NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4400 seems to be
responsible for the system instability."

The data in the error report:
szAppName : Drivers.Display szAppVer : 10DE0251A280231043
szModName : nv4_disp.dll szModVer : 6.14.10.5303 Offset : 780D06EA

I've installed the latest Via 4.51 drivers for my mobo. I've updated my
mobo's bios to the latest version. I tried to install the newer, WHQL
ForceWare drivers initially, but the pc would lock up if I launched any
programs (not just 3d), or tried to access the Nvidia display properties for
ex. - this was with the 56.72, 60.72, 61.11, 61.12 drivers - so I put on
53.03 and they appear to cope fine with normal windows operation. Just have
the problem with running any 3d operations it seems.

I've been doing all the anally retentive driver installation procedures
using the latest version of Driver Cleaner, etc, so I'm at a loss to what
the problem is atm. Anybody got any ideas? If I've left out any important
info, please ask... thanks in advance for any help!

/dan

At a guess, the card might have been damaged when you moved it. Try
another card or cleaning the contacts and stuff.
