After moving this week, my 970 DeskJet decided to pool black ink all
over. Very aggravating. Thank goodness for SimpleGreen to clean it
off the kitchen table where I had temporarily placed it.

I prompty went out and replaced it with a 5510. I already have a
wide-carriage Epson photo printer, so my needs are for it to replace
my leaking 970. When I realized that it had a scanner that could
potentially replace my ScanJet 6200 that occasionally refuses to
operated, I was quite pleased.

Can someone comment on the relative specs of the three machines? For
normal (non-photo) printing, will the 5510 be at least as good as the
970? For scanning, will the 5510 be at least as good as the ScanJet
6200?

If so, these are great machines. Except for the lack of network
printing, which is a real bummer.
