printer install error

xppro - sp1

My Epson C40sx (parallel) printer is installed and works fine. It can be
accessed by all four machines on my home network however the machine to
which it is connected signals the following error message on each boot;

Cannot install this hardware
there was a problem installing this hardware
Epson Stylus C40 series
An error occured during the installation of this device
The printer driver is unknown

All this for a perfectly working printer!

If anyone knows how to stop winxp flagging this 'error' I would be very
happy

You seem adamant that this is an Epson issue yet even the system that is
flagging the error shows that the printer is running on the correct drivers
and is able to print and share the printer. Is there a specific reason why
you are sure of this?
