I don't want to set up a raid array, I just want to connect one sata
drive. Do I have to install the raid drivers (pressing f6) while
installing XP Pro?

No I didn´t do it too everything is fine.
But when Win is installed you can instal the VIA bus driver and so on
from the driver CD.
