Cant play CoD4 Multiplayer! ( Singleplayer works fine )

Hello,i cant play CoD4 on multi player for some reason. when i start multiplayer, my screen goes black and then i get a message saying

"iw3mp.exe has stopped working"
Check for a solution Online
Close program

and thats it!
please help.
heres my specs:
o.s=win 7
2 gigs of ram
Intel core 2 duo 2.80 GHZ
ati radon hd 3450
