I was in a Microcenter yesterday looking at what I hoped would be quieter,
higher performing alternatives to the cooler that came with my Athlon 64
3400+. I went away with nothing as I could not decide which would be best. I
have a K8N Neo Platinum.

They had the copper/aluminum and all copper Zalman flowers. I was concerned
that installation of either of these would necessitate dismounting the
motherboard to position the backplate, which if everything is working fine,
I am hesitant to do. I also wonder if the edge of the flower might come to
close to the back of my AGP graphics card.

They also had some vertical heatpipe/sink fan units which looked
interesting, one from Gigabyte (cylindrical) and some others from Aerocool.

I'm inclined to go with the Zalman based on past experience, but am
interested in whatever you find works well.

I'm using a thermaltake venus 12. It cools well, but sounds like a
hairdrier with my case open. Closed it's not to bad. I seem to recall
hearing lots of people on the MSI HQ web forum saying they are using the
Zalman heasinks.
