Hello all -

I have a new Sony DW-D22A (BYS2)<--- firmware vers.) dvd burner.

When I put in a blank DVD-R disc, the drive changes to say CD Drive. When I
eject it, it turns back to DVD-RW drive. Is this normal behavior or is
there a way to keep this from happening?

I've already checked the Sony site for firmware updates but there are not
any at this time.

Well I still don't understand why it would change to CD drive when a DVD-R
is inserted,
but ok.

My LG DVDRW does the same thing as you describe. Why? Probably because it
is a blank disk and the drive / XP doesn't know what it is, therefore
defaults to calling it a CD. Just a guess.

r.
