COD versus MOHAA

What are you guys more excited about?

1. Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault

2. Call of Duty Expansion: United Offensive

I personally like COD more than MOHAA so to be honest i'll probably get the expansion before the completely new MOHAA game. I'm downloading the Pacific Assault demo as I type so that could change...

I've gone through the demo a couple times. Pretty good looking game. Intense gameplay so far. But I got artifacts with the cat 4.1's. Stopped overclocking, still got them. Upgraded to Cat 4.8 and I still get them. First I've ever seen with this card. Anyway, mixed personal opinion because of that. ATI users let me know if your driver version gets zero black or green artifacts.

Call of Duty Expansion: United Offensive

Reasons:

1) COD was better than MOHAA
2) MOHAA expansions terribly sucked compared to original MOHAA

Are you still feeling that way?

I'm telling ya, I personally liked Spearhead and breakthrough single player just as much as the original MOHAA. Spearhead was harder and more demanding on the system to keep it smooth, but that added to the fun as long as your system could hack it. ANd in multiplayer I liked them more with added rifle butting feature alone a big plus. Anyway, Once I got the expansions, the original Mohaa CD never went back in the system.

I've played through the demo as well, and it is a nice looking game. I didn't have any artifacts on my system, running the 4.8 Cats.

I don't have anything in my system overclocked though.

I am looking equally forward to both COD:UO and MOHAA:pA. They both look like stellar games, also, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobly, looks good. HL2 is gonna have a run for its money come September 30.

Odd, I've never had a single gaming issue on this system until trying that demo, It was playable, but had huge tearing artifacts off and on. It was worse at 1280x1024 high than at 1024x768 medium for some reason.

Oh bummer! It's my Sapphire 9800 Pro. I am getting the artifacts in FarCry also. All I have been playing last few weeks is NFS Hot Pursuit 2 and in that game it is fine. I guess the new more demanding games are stressing the card and it's going bad. It's been a good card for 8 months. Luckly I have 4 months left in the warranty, bad thing is it's a retail and the warranty will be through Sapphire. :frown: I sure wish it was BBA.

I've played MOHAA more than once, but never touched Spearhead and Breakthrough after finishing first time.

IMO, Spearhead single player was terrible, and Breakthrough single player wasn't bad, but it was nowhere near original MOHAA

Well, months later(since I first read your opinion) and I'm still trying to change your mind on the expansions.

Spearhead multiplayer took up 75% of my gaming time for many many months. Some buddies and myself were meeting online 4-5 times a week to play. Considering almost all are married, that's alot of gaming.

Anyway, I guess my point is, that since we like it, that must mean you should like it too.

I can't play MP with my 33.6k dial-up. My opinions are based on single player missions.

I've checked some threads in gamefaqs forums yesterday. Many people said Pacific Assault demo sux.

MOHPA - It's very short. Pretty intense first time through. I cracked up after getting the view from the ground of Japaneese bayonets poking me like a pincussion. I've now played it through maybe 5 times and it has it's plusses and minuses. I'm not sold on it so far like I was with the farcry demo. But it did show me my video card is dying. [cry]

I tried out the Pacific Assault demo and was pretty dissapointed. The game definitely has a problem with Radeons because it ran slow (20fps?!) on 800x600 with no AA on my 9800pro!!! Also there's the same stupid problems as the last one, the enemy count is ridiculous. Having 2 dozen Japanese soldiers shoot at you and bayonette you (causing like 3 pts of damage a hit) is beyond innacurate.

I give it 2 "meh"s and one "blah".

Remember "infinate guards" in original MOHAA when alarm turned on by enemy soldiers?

CoD with Veteran difficulty (no health packs) is the best.

In few cases only. Otherwise their was way not trigger the alarm on. "Walk" instead of running, use "hi-standard silenced pistol", kill anybody who gets near the alarm, if turned on by somebody then turn off immediately. This way, no problem can be caused by alarm.

Did you set the detail level to HIGH in the MOHPA demo? 1024x768 Medium should provide much higher FPS than what you are getting at 8x6.

Did you have AA/AF on in your drivers? What is the rest of the system?

With a P4 2.6C and 9800 Pro no overclocking, I used full fraps to bench the first 1 minute of gameplay in the demo. My results were 30 low, 79 high, and 41.083 fps average. Most of the time the fps were upper 40's or above without gunfire, and drop to the 30's during heavy gunfights. This was 1280x1024 (edit) all medium with vsync on (didn't need to change this as my resfresh rate is 85), and my ATI drivers were set to default (ATI Blend)

Anyway, just seems your fps are way too low for this demo. I fully agree that the damage is way too low for each hit though. I get shot up real good and still live to fight on.

OK, I just swapped in a BBA 9800 Pro for my Sapphire, and I still get the black tearing lines in this demo. Now that I know it's not a bad card, I'll have to look into it more.

I picked up the COD expansion and it's great. You get to be a gunner in a B-17 and then get it shot down and you start fighting with a british commando outfit. The Game is intense and a little harder (for me) too. I think I like the Call of Duty series a little better than MOHAA expansions. I will get the Pacific assault expan.

Everybody is someone's "A" hole...one out of 4 people won't like you no matter what.

I hope we will reach to conclusion that CoD: UO is better than MOHAA: PA.
