I've currently got Win8 Release preview installed on my SSD and Win7 on my HDD.

Question 1) Can I upgrade from Release Preview to Windows 8?

Question 2) If the answer to question 1 was is "no", how can I get Win8 to install on my SSD?

I've now got Win7 32-bit installed on my SSD, but it hasn't been activated. Can I upgrade to Windows 8 64-bit or do I need to buy a fresh OEM copy?

You can't go from 32bit to 64 bit. A fresh install is needed in that case.
