Hi

Just brought a 2nd hand MS 6117 motherboard in order to make a little
linux system to have a play with.

MS-6117
P2 266
64 + 32 Meg SDRam
6.4 Gb Harddrive
ATI Rage Graphics card
Floppy drive

Just finishing building the actual machine but can't get it booting
correctly as I can't get into the bios. Whenever I try I get the
enter password box.

Any ideas how to bypass this? I've tried removing the battery for
about 5 minutes and clearing the CMOS but all that has done is
changed the chip type from 266 to a 133. The password is still
there.

Thanks.

Hi

Managed to get around it - flashing the bios to the latest 2.5 Award
removes everything including the password.

Only problem now is that the chip is being shown as a 133 rather than
a 266 as previously. According to the manual the below are the pin
settings, but the fastest I can get reported is a 200 using 1111.

Managed to squeeze it upto a 225 by using 75 bus speed rather than
the normal 66 with 1111 (200 chip).

CPU SW1

233MHz 1101
266MHz 1001
300MHz 1110
333MHz 1010
200MHz 1100

Any ideas how to fix?

Thanks.
