Help with playchoice 10 games (exitebike, super mario bros..

Heyall,

I can't seem to get any of the Playchoice 10 games to work correctly
(using gxmame 0.35beta1, xmame 0.92 on Gentoo amd64). Most everything
else seems to work correcty - even with my old analog gamepad. With the
playchoice games, any time I press any of the keys it freezes for a long
time and then resets. For example on excitebike as soon as I press 5
(insert coin), it freezes.

Anyone got any hints/tips/instructions for how to get these to work?
