Hi there. I'm trying to network several RS232 devices in my lab, but I thought that it might be a good time to switch to ethernet. However, the cost of multiport serial to ethernet servers is prohibitive. Does anyone know how I could build one of these things for less than 500.00. I'd like it to have about eight serial ports on it.

Hmmm. Not sure exactly the purpose of this. Perhaps more info would help. Anyway...<A HREF="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3403209082&category=1484" target="_new">here?</A>

Well...their all rs232 protocol (except for one 485 device which I have a converter on), what I want is to build a device that I can assign IP addresses to the different serial devices. Right now I'm working with a code activated switch, but its tedious.
