If your on a budget this will force you to have to buy a PCI-E graphics
card and add to the expense. Also some peole are having problems with
certain steppings of the 90nm athlon
64's.

The cheapest route to A64 technology is a neo2 socket 939 board, as this is
allows you to use your old AGP graphics card.

It will be some time before cheap pci-e cards are significantly faster than
their AGP cousins. Then you can consider upgrading again.

It doesn't have the Creative sound chip.

So what?
The creative chip dosn't replace Soundstorm by a long way. Also creative
show little sign of creating 64 bit drivers for it.

I wish there was an NF4 board that did have soundstorm ... or NF3 for that
matter. I have an NF7-S board right now and really like Soundstorm. I
think that the MSI-Creative sound chip is the best audio solution right now
for NF4 boards and also less CPU intensive.

Hang on, you're right !

I've got the K8N Diamond, and I've just noticed there are no 64-bit drivers
for the onboard sound, whatsoever !
Damnit, I wanted to install it too. I'll be HELLA mad if I have to buy a PCI
soundcard !

Hi,

Although I don't have the same board, I am on Athlon 3000+ 939. All
this 64-bit driver talk, is everyone running 64-bit WinXP? Is it just
a time limited beta, or do you all have it? Thanks.

I will be, as soon as it's finally available.

It's not quite available for retail yet - but it is finished, and should be
along in the next few weeks.
