Hi all, I am trying to build a system and have a MSI-6738 mobo with an
AMD processor. I have not installed any OS yet. The problem I am
having is that when I power up, I get a nonstop beeping sound from the
onboard beeper and my keyboard doesn't work. It recognizes my HDD,
CDROM and Memory. The CMOS check fails. But I am unable to get to the
BIOS settings by pressing Del or F2. It doesn't seem to recognize
keystrokes. The NumLock / CapsLock lights on the keyboard don't come
on when I press them. So it looks like the keyboard is not getting any
power. Any ideas? BTW, the keyboard works (numlock/capslock lights
come on) when connected to another computer. So keyboard is good.

The frustrating part is that I had this problem with a brand new mobo
that I purchased. I sent it in and they sent me a replacement mobo.
Same problem. So I am starting to wonder if it is the board or am I
doing something wrong.

Is it possible that it is having trouble with the RAM simm card. I
have SDRAM 256Mb from Kingston. Not sure if the mobo likes it. It
recognizes it ok so I'm guessing the memory is good.

Other details - clocking is set at 100Mhz, the CPU power is connected
(the 4 pin square connector). My CDROM and FloppyDD are somewhat old.
Not sure if that could be a problem.

Thanks for any help.

Regards,

Bk.
