The Computer Reboots if I Plug the "Portable Data Storage" (JetFlash 256.MB),
it's only start to happen after i download security patches from Microsoft.
So every time I need to back up somme data I switch the computer off and
then I plug the USB 2.0 "Portable Data Storage" and start the computer.
Any Help with thanks.

It could be a an electical issue with the Mother Board. If the USB 2.0 port
is on the Mother Board then it might be surging and reseting the Mother
Board.

I would also look for a flash upgrade for the Mother Board to be sure your
USB 2.0 is running the latest and greatest. It could be a communication
issue at that level.

Can you plug and unplug other self powered devices into the UBS port without
crashing?
Can you plug other Mass Storage Devices in and out without crashing?

If both of these are true, then I would toss the JetFlash and buy a new
256MB stick that works! make sure there is a return policy form the place
you buy it from.

Another question is can you plug the JetFlash into several other XP machines
with no issue?
If this is true I would suspect Mother Board firmware first.

Also, I think this is a link to the support area of the drive manufacturer.
If you paruse through there you might find something useful. I could not
find anything directly related but maybe you will have more luck.

Worst case scenario, you could purchase a USB 2.0 card. That might also
solve the issue.
