I needed to flash the modem in order to update a few features and improve stability. (i was etting a few disconnections due to line sync issues)
When i flashed the unit the loading and flash seemed to be sucessful, but right at the end i got an error message "Timeout - dslupg" (dslupg being the name of the flash executable)
Now at this stage i wasnt sure if the modem would work ok... and there is nothing worse than a bad flash turning an expensive modem into an expensive doorstop!
So after much consultation with fellow 504 modem uses i tried other things... with all flashes i did getting the same timeout error.
But i could reboot the modem ok using hyperterminal, so the flash seemed to work.
And when i got the nerve up to cycle the power it did.
End result: special settings set, nice and fast with no line synch problems.
