Why can't I put 2 128mb memory modules in my MSI MS-6156VA

..
I got 2 128mb memory modules from Crucial after running the Crucial scan.
Both work. But not at the same time! With both in at the same time I get
the beep pause beep. Take one out, no problem. Move it around, no problem,
check to make sure both work, no problem. Finally leave one in, put back
one of the old 64mb ones, no problem again.

So the best I can do is one of the old 64mb modules, one new 128mb and
I've wasted the money on the 2nd.

Any suggestions as to what's gone wrong?

Thanks.

Are they both the exact same kind?

If not then that is your problem. Could be Parity, Single/Double density,
memory timing etc etc etc.

Two things to do is 1)Change your CMOS memory timings to safest mode and try
again or 2)buy to matching memory modules.

Last thing to check is that one or both modules may be bad. Stranger things
have happened.

Both the same, 2 x what Crucial recommended.

I'll try that with the CMOS memory timings.

Both work in either slot.

Thanks.
