Sempron 2.6 is stated as 1.6 on PC

Hi all,

I just built a computer with the MSI motherboard K8T Neo V and an
Athlon Sempron 2600 processor.

When I check the PC for processor type it says Athlon--processor
unknown and it gives the speed as 1.6g. I cleared the cmos and tried
to figure if there was a jumper, but could find nothing. The
instructions for the bios setup are pretty scant and I could not see
anything that I could do there to get the computer to acknowledge my
processor.
Am I only running 1.6 when I should be 2600? Can't seem to find
anything to help elsewhere on the internet. Anybody have any
suggestions.
Thanks,

Al alanj77@verizon.net

Sounds right to me. AMD uses rating system to approximate performance.

Ooooops!! I should've been a little more observant. So right you are.
That big 2600 showed up so nice and pretty.
Well, I will see what I can do about overclocking. I had an Athlon
Thunderbird 1.2 in my old via 133 board and saw 1.6 on this, I
freaked. Shoulda known better.
Thanks a lot. At least i'm showing the right speed.

And what speed does the processor box say?
