I have a problem with MSI Liveupdate 3.73 on 2 Windows XP SP2 computers with
all updates installed, one PC is a new build. On my old machine I have an
MSI KM4M (MS6734) motherboard and when updating the Realtek AC97 Audio
Drivers, Liveupdate never recoginizes the update, it still reports my
drivers are version 5.10.00.5760 & tells me I need to update to
5.10.00.5890, even though I have just done so. Checking Device Manager lists
the drivers as version 5.10.00.5890, so they have obviously updated but
Liveupdate does not acknowledge this. The same thing happens on a newly
built PC with a KT4A-V (MS7021) motherboard but the drivers for the Realtek
AC97 Audio Drivers are listed as Unknown and the Online Ver 5.10.00.5890.
Again checking Device Manager lists the drivers as 5.10.00.5890. Why is
Liveupdate not reporting the correct version of my sound drivers?

My advice, and you might not like it, is to not use Live Update. Usenet is
full of posts about bad flashes with Live Update. I always use a floppy and
it has never let me down (knock on wood).

Or as an alternative if you don't like floppies, do what I did
when I needed to flash the BIOS - dump it to a folder on your C
drive.

This avoids the problem of flaky floppy disks (although of course
you do need to be able to boot to DOS ^_^ )...

This advise IIRC was actually from the MSI website...

The BIOS is fine, it's my sound drivers that are being reported incorrectly
on 3 different motherboards. Is this not happening to anyone else?

That's only if you're running FAT.
