Not enough information provided Tim....

Can you hear any "Beeps"?

Do you hear the hard drive spin up?

Does the CPU fan turn? Is the CPU heatsink getting warm?

Well atr least it's mtor is running, so it won't take much to get it in gear
and move it off the desktop!

I believe that you will find a better way to achieve some form of solution
is to give exact details and maybe if you can get some grip of the correct
terminology.

For example what is the 'motor' to which you are referring? Should one
guess that you mean the cooling fan for the power supply at the rear of the
computer?

Do you hear any beeps? or Floppy DIsk activity? or Hard Disk Activity [look
for the HDD LED to blink]?

More information will provided better responses.

Thanks for your reply Cari,
There's no beeps and the hard drive does spin up, and the cpu fan
turns but doesn't get warm. I am sorry for lack of info but i am really not
into computer jargon, so you will have to be patient with me ok.
I have found other links to the same problem and it sounds as if
iy could be the motherboard????

If the heatsink isn't warming up chances are high it's the CPU that is
blown. The quickest way to sort this out is take it to a computer store
that can test CPU and motherboard separately and confirm which is the
problem. On my husband's PC it was the CPU (Athlon XP 2200+). Replaced
under warranty.

Good luck.
