mouse no working with laptop

this is the USB 3rd mouse which decided not to work never more

anyone know what are the causes?

If buying an using a new one resolves the issue each time, I fail to see
any connection to Windows as the problem. That would be a physical
hardware problem. Broken connections, broken wires, physical abuse, etc.

just bought one and it is working fine on the old USB port
