Hello all

I am trying to build a new shuttle system the sn85g4 with a 3200 athln 64.

Things seemed to be going ok (memory ok, cpu ok, could boot into bios, found
dvd etc) until I came up against the raid driver issue with windows, so got
an old floppy and plugged this into the floppy ide.

On powering on the system just alternately flashed the dvd and hd light for
about 1 sec at a time and would do nothing else.

I checked the floppy was in correctly - it was pin 1 was in pin 1 no
embarresingly bent pins etc. So removed the floppy and tried again - nothing
changed, so tried removing all hardware except for the cpu just prevoke a
reaction. but I got nothing. It seems the post test is failing on something,
but I don't know what - I don't have a scond athlon 64 lying around so can't
test that.

Any ideas, anyone?

Cheers

Paul

Well, here's what I recommend you do.

Remove the "BIOS clear" jumper located on the mother board. It's location
should be documented in the SN85 manual. The manual will tell you to unplug
the Shuttle. It's important to do this. Leave the jumper off for awhile.
After about 10 minutes or so, put the memory, CPU, DVD, harddrive, and
floppy (if necessary) and so on back onto the motherboard. Put the "BIOS
clear" jumper back on, plug the power back in, and boot the system.
Hopefully, the system will post. If it does, enter the BIOS setup and make
sure everything is as it should be.

As for the RAID array issue. You didn't mention the OS version you're using
nor the drives involved. Not that I can help if I knew that, buy for others
reading this it would be helpful if you provided more information about your
configuration including OS (including latest service pack) and hardware.

Hope this helps and, of course, works.
