I know that the 64 bit version of Windows 7 can take advantage of more memory than the 32 bit version however are there any other benefits?

Some applications that are specifically 64-bit can take advantage of the better processing power. (64 bits at a time through the CPU instead of 32.) Most normal programs won't notice much of a difference, but some resource-intensive apps like Photoshop, CAD programs, etc. will be significantly faster, supposing you use the 64-bit versions.
