I have an AV61 mobo with Celeron 900, Matrox G450 video card, and
512megs RAM. I swapped an older Nvidia Riva128 with 8megs for a
Matrox card. The machine goes much slower with around 1 second for
refresh rates. The refresh line moves slowly down the page. Also the
mouse seems to hang periodically when the video is updating on the
internet. I had the same problem with a Nvidia Geforce 2 video card.
When I put the Nvidia card into another machine with an Intel
815chipset, it ran really fast, so I know the video card was not
defective. I have updated the latest VIA chipsets and am going to
update the BIOS to the latest (I am one back). Any ideas? Is there
something to check in the BIOS? I ran the system check in PCpitstop
and the video rating was 11 whereas a Intel 810 video was 32. I know
something is not right with the settings or driver. This thing should
be much faster. Any help would be appreciated. I know this is an old
machine, but it was fairly fast with the old 8 meg AGP card, but I
need a bigger frame buffer and dual video for some work I am doing. I
don't do any gaming, so this should last for a while if I can get it a
little faster.

Thanks
Tom
