no, it doesn't but what he is saying is this....Why would Intel charge $50 for that when they could charge $150 and still get as many people to buy it?
Like he said, teh FX's and EE's dont cost more to produce, but they cost more because of the featrures and people are willing to pay.
Right, but if they want to make it mainstream, then they need to keep the price down. 50 bucks for a cooling system is already expensive for your average user. I don't think they're going for a niche market here.
Imagine how many people might switch to Intel knowing that they can buy an Intel backed cooling system for a good price that will increase their CPU speed by 66%.
I think they are making a smart move by keeping it cheap.

$50 for cooling isn't much at all....you forget all the water coolers out there. $50 for this setup is HELLA cheap.
Yeah the average consumer wont spend $50 on it, but guess what, they average consumer wont spend a single cent on cooling, the average consumer doesn't even know they have a HSF on their cpu....lol
Yes they are going to a niche mareket, and that niche is of people who are willing to spend more then $50.

First off i'll bet its only going to be sold with the EE line....why would they make a cooler and sell it and lose profits? everyone would buy the cheapest intel chip and buy the cooler to get UBER performance. Its not good business to lock yourself out of a market you own.
If i could get a Conroe to 5Ghz stable at 60c like they claim, and its not $1000.....but more like $350-$500, i am on the next boat to Intel town.
A conroe at 2.66 or whatever it was is beating the hell out of a FX60 over at Anandtech. so double that....INSANITY
I don't think there are any mass produced water cooling systems though. Mass producing something cuts the cost of production down to 1/10 of the original price on average.
I'm not big into OCing so I may be wrong about the mass production thing, but if Intel is going to use this as a marketing gig, you can bet that they will be pushing it on the average user.
Does the average user need a 3.0ghz cpu to browse the internet and use word processing? Hell no, but they still try to sell to them. It's all about the $$$.
I hate to be a bastard, but this is the wrong section....and while *I* dont care, this probably should be moved.
Wellllll...It was just a little heads up for my friends here and not so much for general consumption..heh heh..but don't let me stop you from bein' a bastard!
Somebody that wants to have some in depth flam...err...discussion can go right ahead and post it upstairs.
