hi

i have this device connected to my computer using the Win XP Autodetect
drivers and it finds it no problem. however the problem i am faceing is that
there is no force feedback in any of my games. it is connected using the old
gameport connector NOT USB. Thanks in advance for the help

Not true.

This device has some issues on Windows XP, but then most gameport devices
do. That is why the technology was dropped years ago. I suspect you have
more than one gameport in the system. This is almost always the reason for
the device working and the forces not. Be sure to check in the BIOS for a
gameport device. Some systems expose one even though there isn't a physical
connector for it on the outside. I have seen machines too that have them
exposed but no way to turn them off. There isn't anything you can do in this
situation. Basically what is happeneing is the wheel data is coming in one
gameport, but the force data is being sent back on the MIDI channel of the
first MIDI device found, which is usually the one built into the
motherboard.

It was complicated. That together with the fact that when IHV's want to try
to save a little money in production cost the gameport is the first place to
go since not everyone uses those components, which leads to inferior ports
and more problems. Luckily the technology is dead.
