I have this annoying problem. I have a 300GB SATA hard drive
connected to the SATA1 controller. Ever since I hooked up the drive,
my computer will hang at the Soyo flash screen. If I disconnect the
device, the computer boots fine. If I reconnect the device, the
computer hangs again.
I tried dumping the CMOS by resetting the jumper. This temporarily
solved my problem. I was able to format the drive and get windows
installed. However, it has once again begun to hang at the Soyo flash
screen.
Other than having the drive connected to SATA3 or SATA4, I'm not sure
what else to do.
