Used to work fine but now my Belkin 8in1 USB card reader shows error of 'USB
Device not recognised.

Other USB devices all work fine (trackball, smartphone etc.) but not
removable media. I also now get the same 'USB device not recognised' if i
connect my digital camera directly. Mmm

On SP2 and have recently installed

1. MS AntiSpyware Beta
2. MS Media Player 10

I have used system restore and gone back to prior both installations but no
luck I'm afraid. I have been to Belkin and installed their latest. Device
manager reports

Unknown Device

Device Type: Universal Serial Bus controllers
Manufacturer: Standard USB Host Controller
Location: Location 0 (USB Device)

Device Status
No Drivers are installed for this device

Can anyone help? Does anyone know why it would just be removable media that
is not recongnised via USB.

Many thanks

Try disconnecting all USB devices and go back into Device Manager>select
USB Controllers>rt click on each one and
choose Uninstall. Restart and let Xp reinstall them. Restart again and
reconnect USB devices.

Thanks, hacve tried this but still get the same problem. All other devices
were recognised fine apart from card reader and camera. I have checked that
the removable storage service is running.

Is there a next step
