I have an Epson 2450 Scanner. In addition to the power button, it also
has one of those buttons that you can press to pop up a menu of scanner
relevant activities.

Over time, duplicates have appeared for items on this menu (e.g. Epson
Photo Print appears three times, Epson Smart Panel appears three times
(only one of which works). The settings for these options are stored in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StillImage\Events\STIProxyEvent

If I delete them from here and restart the machine they temporarily
disappear. But, once I use the scanner button, the duplicates return.
I'm guessing this is something to do with the entries in ControlSet002 /
ControlSet003 / ControlSet004.

I'm uncertain of tinkering with these entries and hope that someone may
have some advice on how to remove the duplicates permanently.

In a related, but different problem, I've assigned a default action to
the button that I can't find where to reset. Any tips on that would be
appreciated as well!

Cheers,

Scrub the second part - I found that in Control Panel Settings for the
scanner. Still stuck on removing the duplicate items though.

Or you could go to the Epson site and do some research.
